Hey everyone,
I'm facing a situation that's becoming more frequent and I'm curious how you all handle it.
You've just finished a great session with a client. The photos are looking sharp, they're happy with the sneak peeks, and then it comes: "These look amazing! Could you just send us the RAW files so we have them?"
My standard policy is to never deliver RAW files. I explain that RAW files are unprocessed digital negatives, not the final product, and that my editing is part of my artistic service and brand.
However, I'm always refining my approach. I'm looking for polite, professional, and firm ways to communicate this without sounding difficult or damaging the client relationship.
How do you guys deal with this?

How do you guys deal with this?
- Do you have a pre-written clause in your contract that addresses it?
- What's your go-to verbal or email explanation?
- Do you ever make exceptions? (e.g., for another professional photographer client)
- Have you found that offering something else (like all the edited JPEGs, not just the gallery selects) helps ease the request?
